How to boost your sales and make your business thrive
One of the most challenging parts of any business is getting people to buy your product or service. No matter how great your product, you still have to figure out how to get customers through your doors, and that can be especially difficult if you’re starting out with a small budget and an unknown name in your industry. Fortunately, there are many ways to boost sales and improve your business as a whole, some of which may come as surprise to entrepreneurs just beginning their career.
Make yourself an authority
One of my favorite pieces of advice I ever heard was, It’s not what you know; it’s who you know. If that doesn’t sound like a recipe for success, then I don’t know what is. Over time, we build up our knowledge base, but being an expert takes years—you can shortcut that process by gaining social connections and building expertise in any area by doing research online. People will naturally seek out your advice based on these connections.
Create a killer landing page
When it comes time to convince someone that they should buy from you, we all know how it goes. You try everything in your power to paint a picture of what life will be like with whatever product or service you’re selling. You talk about why you’re different, why you can be trusted, and why they absolutely have to give you their hard-earned money. The more persuasive language you can use, while staying honest, the better.
Do free giveaways
A free giveaway is a popular promotional tool for many businesses. It’s a great way to attract new fans, clients, and customers, but it’s also used by businesses who want to increase brand awareness. A giveaway encourages potential customers to engage with your brand in an organic way that ultimately leads to further promotion of your business. While there are many ways to give away free products or services, we recommend using social media sites such as Twitter or Facebook as they offer a low-cost platform for you to reach thousands of people at once. You can even choose how much you want to spend on each giveaway! If you choose not to use social media sites, be sure to spread word about your contest via email marketing and traditional advertising methods such as radio ads or billboards.
Monetize with affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing is a good way to increase revenue, especially when you are just starting out. Make sure you choose high quality products that will not harm your reputation or customer base. You can also sell products on Amazon, which is a great way to start if you have no previous experience with affiliate marketing.
Post frequently on social media
Posting frequently on social media is an important way for people in any industry to stay connected. Use software like Sprout Social or Buffer (or sign up for Hootsuite, which offers both) to schedule posts a week or more in advance. Experiment with posting at different times of day, on different days of the week, etc., and track how many interactions you get per post. It’s not rocket science—but it can be incredibly effective if you put a bit of effort into it.
Do lead magnets
A lead magnet is a free gift that encourages people to provide their contact information. This is often a PDF or whitepaper of some sort, but it can be anything you want. The idea behind a lead magnet is that when someone downloads it, they’re giving you permission to follow up with them. Lead magnets help grow your email list so you can reach out to customers when needed.
Use content marketing
The best thing about content marketing is that it doesn’t have to cost you anything but time. With content marketing, you’re putting valuable, interesting information out into cyberspace for free. The hope is that people will see it, share it on social media, and eventually convert into customers.
Create valuable courses and videos
One of the most valuable ways to market yourself as an expert is by creating high-quality content that will attract your ideal clients. And a great way of getting started on that path is to create a high-value course or video on something you know a lot about. If you’re struggling for ideas, here are some things you could consider.
